'MATOPOS’ HOUSE : DESIGN ANTHOLOGY

STUDIO CD DESIGN, INTERIOR STYLINGClaire Delmar

Atelier Andy Carson's renovation of an art patron's home in Sydney's Freshwater, is as far from a stereotypical Australian beach house as you can get. Boasting a world-first exterior clad in curved bronze, the luxurious interiors are a picture of calm and texture, requiring a heavily curated, exceptional collection of adornments.

"As far as we know, it's the only curved and cast bronze house in the world, probably because the time required is huge and probably prohibitive." Andy Carson, Architect

When billionaire arts Patron Judith Neilson approached Andy Carson to renovate her beach house in Freshwater, New South Wales, he knew he was in for something more experimental than weatherboards and white paint. 'Judith always likes to push boundaries and explore different directions,' says the founder of Atelier Andy Carson. 'Most clients hold you back but Judith pushes you further.'

“The detailing is minimal so as to put the focus on the changing light, the textures and the lushness of the materials.”
